Vicroads slammed over fatal bus crash
Police have spoken to two bus drivers after two people died and six others were injured when a four-wheel drive crashed on a rural roa도박d in Queensland this afternoon.
The crash took place about 11:00am at a junction near Mount Gambier in the state’s Pilbara region.
Police told 7.30 it was a four-wheel drive, possibly a truck, and was travelling at 60 kilometres per hour at the time of the crash.
The man driving the bus suffered facial injuries and a head injury, while three people on the bus sustained facial injuries.
Det Insp Paul Condon said the bus was moving along the shoulder when the driver lost control and slammed into a bush.
“I have spoken to one of the drivers who lives at the scene and he also confirmed that there were a couple of people offloaded onto the bus who were ejected,” he said.
“We have spoken to the drivers, they’re very distraught and I’ve spoken to the bus driver who’s taken away some of the passengers who have suffered minor injuries.
“One woman was injured when the bus landed on her side.”
The driver’s identity has not been released, but police sai나비야d the driver is not the same man who had previously been charged for failing to stop his vehicle on the roadside.
Mr Condon said the driver has been taken to a local police station for questioning.
